The scope of infected concrete is still unknown, but estimates suggest single-family homes, condominium communities, and other buildings in the thousands, along with hundreds of thousand of septic systems, are affected. The common thread of these failing homes is a local supplier, which provided concrete from a single quarry in the area. The Capitol Region Council of Governments estimates at least 24 Connecticut towns could be affected, with 19,000 homes built in those towns during the 1980s to 2011. No scope has been determined for homes across the border into southern Massachusetts.

The State of Connecticut is urging homeowners to come forward and file a form with Consumer Protection in order to determine the extent of this crisis.
